Equipment

  • 1 Shallow skillet or sauté pan
  • 1 Wooden spoon or silicone spatula
  • 1 measuring cups
  • 1 Garlic knife or chef’s knife for mincing garlic
  • 1 Grater for Parmesan

Ingredients

Alfredo Sauce

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese finely grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped, optional

Instructions

  • Place a shallow skillet or sauté pan over medium-low heat. Add the butter and let it melt gently without browning.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant. Do not let it burn.
  • Pour in the heavy cream and stir well. Let it warm for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until hot and just beginning to gently simmer around the edges.
  • Lower the heat and gradually sprinkle in the grated Parmesan, stirring constantly until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
  • Add the kosher salt and black pepper. Stir until the sauce is glossy and thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  • Stir in the chopped parsley if using, then serve right away with hot cooked pasta, chicken, seafood, or vegetables. If needed, loosen the sauce with a splash of warm pasta water, milk, or extra cream.

Notes

Use freshly grated Parmesan for the smoothest texture. Keep the heat low to prevent the sauce from separating. Reheat leftovers gently with a splash of milk or cream.
